Do you have a street legal golf cart or UTV?
We are looking for people with golf carts or UTVs who want to have some fun!
The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to introduce a brand-new event the Back Road Derby Drive designed to bring our community together, collect food donations for Rooted for Good, and raise funds to support our free community events like Waddle on the Riverbank featuring the Great Genoa Duck Race, Celebrate the Season, and to bring Santa Claus to town throughout the month of December.

What is the Back Road Derby Drive?
It’s two events in one! Participants with street legal golf carts or UTVs are invited to decorate their vehicle, dress to match their theme, and pick a song to show off their style!
Drivers will parade along a back road block while the community cheers them on from the sidelines. A panel of judges will select the top 10 finalists based on creativity, theme, decoration and crowd appeal. The finalists will then drive individually through the Vet’s Club parking lot where one of our community’s most creative and entertaining rides will take home the title Champion of the Back Roads for the year. The top 6 will be selected and be offered a VIP spot in the Genoa Day’s Parade! Once the parade competition wraps up, the excitement continues as the top 6 vehicles also get to compete in the Genoa Derby! 

What is the Genoa Derby?
The chosen 6 golf carts or UTV’s will be the jockeys with their rides, numbered 1 through 6. Dice will be rolled to determine which # jockey moves forward one space on the race track; the race ends when one jockey crosses the finish line! Spectators can “bet” by placing their tickets on who they think will win the race. We’ll run multiple races during the Genoa Derby, so there will be many chances to win!

FAQ’S

• Who can take part?
  • Any golf cart or UTV with a current City of Genoa registration sticker
  • ANYONE can come and watch the parade and take part in the Derby fun!
• What if I don’t have a golf cart/utv?
  • You can still join in! Come and watch the parade of carts & utv’s! Parade route will be posted prior to the event
  • Then head to the Genoa Veteran’s Home where the judges will announce their picks for the top 10 rides, and the 6 favorites will move on to compete in the Genoa Derby!
  • Stay for the Derby! You can “bet” on the race winners by purchasing raffle tickets and placing them in the your chosen “jockey’s” bucket
• Can I bring my child?
  • Yes! This new event is family friendly!
• Is there an entry fee?
  • Carts that are participating should bring one non-perishable food item for donation to Rooted for Good for each person riding in their vehicle.
  • There is NO entry fee for spectators! Come on down and join the fun on May 9th!
• How much are tickets?
  • Raffle tickets are
    • $1 per ticket
    • $10 for 12 tickets
    • $20 for 24 tickets
  • You then place your “bets” by putting your raffle tickets in the bucket of the ride you think will win the race!
• What can I win?
  • The winning ticket is pulled from the race winner’s bucket – the winner will receive a cash prize. There will be multiple races in the Derby, each race is a chance to win $$!
• Where should I go to join in?
  • To register your golf cart or utv, CLICK HERE and fill out the online registration form.
  • No cart? Join us at the Genoa Veteran’s Home at 1:00 pm on May 9th and watch the decked out rides parade around, stay for the fun of the Genoa Derby!
